Adam Simon Wright / Lead Guitar
Name:Adam Simon Wright
Instrument:Lead Guitar
Birthday:2nd February 1984
Home Town:Southend-on-Sea, originally from Ed
Influences:I do believe that I absorb most of the music I listen to and if I like it, it will have an influence on the songs I write and the way I play.  Aside from music, I strongly believe that life experience influences what you play and how you play it more than anything.

My musical influences started with my Dad's record collection so The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Status Quo, Wings, Whitesnake, Pink Fairies, Rod Stewart, AC/DC, Elvis.  My first album was a cassette of Michael Jackson’s Bad when I was about five years old.  The first concert I attended was The Rolling Stones at Wembley Stadium in 1990 which was a hugely influential experience. I got into heavier rock like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Def Leppard, Judas Priest and became a huge Guns 'n' Roses fan after seeing them on TV at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.

At secondary school I started buying the usual Britpop stuff like Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers, The Verve. I was becoming more open minded to music and moved away from just buying heavy rock albums and upon recommendation from friends and hearing songs on the radio invested in albums by artists like The Velvet Underground, The Sex Pistols, Van Morrison, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Iggy and The Stooges, and bought almost the entire discographies of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Prince. I was still listening to rock though and got into Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Free and Thin Lizzy.

I went to see a concert at Wembley Stadium when I was 15 without telling my parents. I said I was staying at a friend's house for the day and he said the same to his parents! Unfortunately, we missed the last train home and had to sleep outside Liverpool Street station. It was worth it though as three of the artists performing ended up being some of my favourite of all time - The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith.

I liked the Blues as it was my first step into improvisation on the guitar and listened to the masters like Muddy Waters, BB King, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker and of course Robert Johnson.

Of course there is the usual array of guitar players that everyone who plays rock guitar listens to: Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Jimmy Page.  There's also some under-rated guitarists that I enjoy like Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, Ron Wood, Audley Freed.

I got into some jazz when studying GCSE music and listened to Miles Davis (of course), Dave Brubeck and Herbie Hancock.

More recently, through the influence of a certain Mr Selleck, I have been listening to some soul - Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield.

Anything goes really just as long as it's good.

Outside the band:There's not a lot that I do that doesn't involve music, whether it's listening to it or playing it. I did play classical guitar for some years but found I haven't got the time at the moment to carry on playing. I do wish to start again and possibly take grades on the classical. I often find myself in a pub in my spare time which is probably my second favourite pastime to music. I like my pubs and bars like I like my women, classy, full of character, not cheap, sophisticated and brunette. I've just realised the last thing applies to women only, not pubs.
Loves:I'm not a big comedy fan but I do adore Alan Partridge. My favourite films would have to be Dirty Harry, Withnail and I, and This is Spinal Tap. I like most foods but detest lazy bland food like microwave meals, pot noodles etc. Why bother eating if you're going to eat crap! I like to go camping in Snowdonia every once in a while because of it's tranquility and there's little to no mobile phone reception so nobody can disturb you.
Hates:Television. I haven't sat down to watch TV since last year because I feel it's a waste of valuable time. Computer games - I've never owned a computer games console and never will. Again, a waste of valuable time. It's amazing how many people say they don't do things because they haven't got the time, but they manage to find time to vegetate in front of a television screen! I detest chocolate and especially chocolate cake. I will eat it if forced, but would rather starve. The people I hate would include Adolf Hitler and Ben Rudge.
