Selleck was surprised at Paul's natural ability to play the saxophone, given the trouble he has playing bass.

After a successful 2009, we have found ourselves musically and are currently going through a whole ‘rebranding’ phase - and this will be reflected by our Official website, and also our MySpace page very shortly.

We hope that your support for Soliss will continue throughout 2010, and we look forward to seeing you at future gigs.

Happy new year! It's been a little while since our last post but we're still very much in the game and have just been taking a little time out to record an acoustic EP before getting back to the Soliss you all know and (hopefully) love.

Creativity has been at unprecedented levels in the recent weeks so plenty of new material to come your way soon. To promote our acoustic EP, we're kicking off the year with a handful of acoustic gigs so please check out our gig listing page. The EP will also be available for sale at the gigs in the coming months.

It's been great fun learning how to play different instruments that we're not used to i.e. cello and harmonica, and collaborating with Dale Stanley on the keyboard. We're recording acoustic versions of Weakness and some new songs you may have heard at recent gigs, Memphis, Save Me and Ain't No Song. We hope you like them as much as we've enjoyed recording them.

Before we can play though, there are some important questions that need answering:

1. Has Paul forgotten the art of eating as he's looking rather lean and sexy nowadays (I would say emaciated but I think there's some way to go yet)!?

2. When will Mike give his poor grandad back his hat (not the one in photo above, pictures to follow shortly)? He's been missing it dearly.

3. Whose blood is splattered over two of Adam's guitars? I know which band's I wish it was.

4. Does Rudge actually possess the necessary muscles in his face to smile?

5. How big is Selleck?!?!?!?!?! Answers on a postcard, or photos will do if you can find an adequate lens.

Last weekend saw soliss play three gigs over two days, all of which were outside and all of which were great fun. We met some interesting people and saw some interesting bands such as Greenleaf 56 (with new singer), The Dirty Fairies, and Voodoo Vegas, and of course the gentleman who sold us the rather fetching trilbies, one of which Adam is modelling below.

Next week we are playing at Chinnerys so please come down to show your support and to listen to a band who've been rejuvenated through intensive songwriting! Our new songs (which consist of an electric blues stomper, a no-nonsense 3-chord rocker, a bouncy and infectious sing-along, and an honest emotive ballad), have given us a more rounded, yet still powerful sound. Your old favourites will still be there along with the new songs; your future favourites.

The four songs mentioned above have all been recorded and are in the process of being mixed. They should be ready in the very near future.

I'll be giving a brief account on our most recent recordings plus there shall be an exclusive Radio Caroline premiere of our new track "Goodbye Goodtimes" available to download by signing up to our mailing list at www.soliss.co.uk. I shall also look back at our hugely succesful set at this years Cambridge Rock Festival.

New songs are all tracked, bar some vocals. We're currently on the look out for a cheap string quartet and an expensive kazoo soloist for one of the songs so get in touch if you can help.

It was great to see so many people at the Dover gig - you all made us feel really welcome. A big thanks to you all, and the people that came backstage to show their appreciation...we are truly grateful. The Red Arrows were great?!?!?

Decent size stage...CHECK!

It was nice to let our hair down a bit and play a few slower numbers that we've never really played live before, along with the odd cover too. As always the biggest buzz is hearing new fans singing along to our songs, Yes, the ones they've never heard before! is that the measure of a catchy chorus...or just a plain irritating one? It's probably a bit of both.

We're currently in rehearsal for our set at the Cambridge rock festival on 07/08/09. It's been a big ambition of mine to play that festival, so i'm really looking forward to it. We've also begun recording of the new tracks...which means we're dangerously close to having a album's worth of recordings (that should please Rob over in the U.S ).

Next Gig is our first home town gig for ages, so please come down and show your support, because there are some awesome bands playing. This Saturday at Chinnery's... apparently drinks are on Selleck!!!

What was planned to be a songwriting month has turned into another four weeks of preparation for a large gig. In our mind all gigs are big gigs, however when you're asked by a council to play a two and a half hour set - when you've only got an hours worth of material... well then it's time to either force those song ideas out, or panic!! We've done a bit of both.
We'll provide a sneak preview of a few of the songs at our live shows this week before we get round to recording them on Monday.

We're still on a very creative cusp at the moment, so expect a lot more songs! We have enough to put onto an album of stuff that we've self produced so we will try our best to make it available on a number of formats via www.soliss.co.uk so keep checking back here. Also we're looking for the right t-shirt company to produce the first batch of Soliss T-shirts.

All this plus talks of a video being made, and our acoustic E.P soon to be available at all gigs.

Mike impresses the girls with his massive 50s style 'Teddyboy' quiff.

Firstly we'd like to say a big thanks to all the support people have been giving us this year! We can't tell you how much we appreciate the things you post and say to us both at gigs and when we bump into people in passing.
We'd also like to wish Kayleigh a happy 11th birthday. Kayleigh hand drew a fab poster of us all "Rocking Out!" as Kayleigh proclaims. It's amazing as to how lifelike it is - although i think a few members of the band would secretly admit to gaining a little extra puppy fat since you last saw us KP.
Currently clogging up the Soliss pipeline are some brand new recordings waiting to be uploaded exclusively to www.soliss.co.uk. Also we've been burying our heads in the manuscript paper, staves and clefs to prepare a further five songs for debut at our forthcoming gigs. All this plus a future Acoustic EP to look forward to... we know how to keep the schedule busy!

Adam was told to put his hands on his head for being naughty but refused to sit in the corner!
